The Saga of Brett Favre: Marathon or Sprint?
The hourly analysis of the Brett Favre situation loses sight of the fact that this story is a marathon, not a sprint. Sure the Packers have scored a few points (or by some measures, many points) in the near term, but this saga will be decided in the long term.
Remember when Joe Montana was traded to the Chiefs? Many view his time there as a failure, as a tarnishing of his career much like Johnny Unitas with the San Diego Chargers. But Montana led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship Game in his first season. It wasn’t until Steve Young won the Super Bowl the following year that Montana’s post-49ers career was viewed in a different light.
And with Brett Favre, his legacy will not be decided in July, all the pontificating pundits notwithstanding.
